If you ever found yourself even in the general vicinity of clinical trials in psychiatry (let alone worked in one), you’ve heard of Signant Health (née Bracket). They’re huge. They’re the go-to vendor for the rater training, and they’re good at it. I’ve been in the business for over a decade, certified for rating patients with every psychiatric scale you could think of, and I’ve worked with a number of vendors in this field — not as a customer, mind you, but as a rater; I’m telling you, these people are the best out there.

Yet every time I need to use their Learning Zone platform, I cry.

Here’s an e-mail I received today:

They want me to use Internet Explorer! And Flash!!!

Please use Internet Explorer version 6.0 (or newer) to access the training. If you are using another browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Safari the site may not function properly.

  • If you are using Internet Explorer and are still unable to access the survey, your Flash Player may be out of date.

Apparently, the download link for the Flash Player still works (that shocks me every time). And no, they are not kidding: you do need Flash to view some of the content, and you are going to suffer trying to get there using a proper browser.

And I wasn’t kidding either: these people are the best in the trade. Don’t even try to imagine the alternatives; it takes a seasoned professional to be able to sleep sound at night after having encountered those. Been there.
